The New York Brass Band are North Yorkshire’s only contemporary New Orleans-inspired Brass Band and are at the forefront of a funky brass revolution. They pack a powerful punch of relentless drums, rumbling tuba and wailing horns... nothing kicks a party into gear like the sound of a smokin’ New Orleans Mardi Gras Jazz Band.
The band has a line-up of percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones, guitar and sousaphone and have a repertoire that ranges from a full on set of party covers to male and female vocals and thrilling jazz and New Orleans sets. They annually play at three of the biggest parties on the planet - Glastonbury, Notting Hill Carnival in London and the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
This event will also feature support from local musician Gary Hammond and composer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Carver Goss, who go by the name Steel Rhyme. With song, melody and groove, Gary and Luke focus on Percussion, Guitar and Accordion, from Sheffield to Appalachia and all points in between. It's music with space that weaves in, out and around the wonderful world of Folk with something borrowed and something new. Traditional and original, with lyrics drawn from the medieval period to contemporary Ian McMillan and beyond.
