The Flatville Aces play traditional Cajun music from southwest Louisiana, a potent mix of fiddle and accordion, French vocals and infectious dance rhythms, and are considered the finest traditional Cajun band in the UK. The style is casual, grounded, and accessible, focusing on connection, rhythm, and having fun rather than fancy, rigid choreography. For lovers of great dancing music – this is the band for you! Give it a go!

Accordionist Gavin Lewery is admired as one of the greatest exponents of single row cajun accordion and triple row zydeco accordion outside Louisiana, and also fronts the highly regarded Zydeco Diamonds. Gavin is also one of the best Cajun drummers around, and has toured with Sheryl Cormier and The Magnolia Sisters.

Fiddler and founder member Jock Tyldesley has played and toured at home and abroad with such Louisiana greats as Balfa Toujours, Dexter Ardoin and Sheryl Cormier, the “Queen of Cajun Music”, as well as accompanying the late, legendary Eddie Lejeune on his last three UK tours. Jock is an experienced teacher in Cajun and old time fiddle styles and has taught at workshops and camps in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Guitarist Vera van Heeringen provides the strong, rolling guitar style honed to perfection by touring with Eddie Lejeune, Balfa Toujours and Sheryl Cormier, and was a member of Dutch outfit The Cajun Company for six years. She also doubles up on fiddle to feature the old time, soaring twin fiddle sound more reminiscent of times gone by. Vera also has many years of teaching experience under her belt and runs guitar courses for women.

Lucas Tyldesley completes the line-up on drums and percussion. He’s been playing drums since before he could walk.
